Engineering Plans

Engineering plans are the design plans for construction of City infrastructure. The plans include measurement data, specifications, and location. Some plans are available in a digital format. Engineering Plans are commonly requested:

  • In preparation for development or redevelopment
  • Prior to design of improvements to City infrastructure
  • Before private utility companies begin construction in City right-of-way or public easements

Plats

Plats are maps filed with Dallas County, which describe properties both graphically and by metes and bounds. Plats include descriptions of portions of the properties that are dedicated to public use such as utility easements, fire lanes, streets, alleys, parks, etc. Plats are commonly requested:

  • In preparation for redevelopment
  • Before subdividing or selling property
  • To determine lot dimensions, street right-of-way, easements and building set backs
