Gas Well Drilling Ordinances Approved
Natural gas exploration within the huge Barnett Shale Basin continues to expand into Dallas County. In anticipation of future gas drilling activities within Farmers Branch, City Council approved three new ordinances that will regulate the location and operation of these gas well sites. Gas well drilling in Farmers Branch will be limited to only property located west of Stemmons Freeway, and will require approval of both a Specific Use Permit and a Gas Well Permit. A Seismic survey of the entire west side should be performed this Spring, and approval of the first gas well sites some time this summer!
