A new 3-story, 147,000 square-foot building, approved by the City Council on October 16, 2007 and located at the northwestern side of the Brookhaven College campus, will be used as the college’s main Science Building housing classrooms, laboratories, and offices.

Due to the site’s topography, the Science Building will be “split level” in design, with only two stories visible towards the new plaza at the main front entrance on the southeastern side.  The building’s rear façade on the north and west will exhibit 3 stories and will be curved parallel to the adjacent ring road.  A stairway entry will lead to the second floor at the southwest corner.

The proposed building will be constructed in the same architectural style, featuring the same color, materials, and sloping metal roofs as other campus buildings.

The access/ring road in the vicinity of the new building along the northern side of the campus will also be upgraded and 306 parking spaces will be added adjacent to it.  Accompanying the ring road upgrade will be additional landscaping featuring Live Oaks, Cypress trees, and various ornamental trees and shrubs as well as ground covers for beautification and screening.
