Planning Division
Place matters! Design can make a difference!

These principles are central to all our planning efforts. The Planning Division:

Manages the City's land development process relative to design review, site planning, specific use permits, and zoning;

Prepares the City's Comprehensive Master Plan and District Plans such as the recently adopted West Side Plan and Station Area Plan that facilitate the implementation of two Tax Increment Financing Districts;

Prepares policies, programs and ordinances relating to development, conducts demographic analysis, and engages in special planning studies relating to economic development, environment, urban design, transportation, & housing; and

Offers extensive e-planning, and public outreach and education programs to encourage greater involvement in planning activities.

What's New

The next Planning and Zoning Commission meeting will be held on May 12 at the Farmers Branch City Hall. See the upcoming items to be considered at the following meeting, Planning and Zoning Commission reports, and the meeting calendar.

Four Corners

The Four Corners vision plan was adopted by City Council in December 2007
(see Council report on Item C.2 here). Minor revisions to the plan were requested by the Council regarding the northwest sector of the plan involving the duplexes along Golfing Green. Staff is currently in the process of making those changes to the final document. The final draft of the Vision Plan will be provided online in the near future.

Previously, two preliminary consensus scenarios were presented at the Four Corners design workshop wrap-up meeting in June.  Consultants from Torti-Gallas described each scenario and received input from the public. Two scenarios were a culmination of the previous four scenarios and input from the public.  If you have any questions, please contact the Planning Division.
