JOB
DESCRIPTIONS
AUTO
TECHNICIAN
– Inspects, diagnoses, repairs and maintains gasoline and diesel
powered equipment.
Must have a high school diploma or GED, 5 years experience
in automotive and equipment maintenance, Class "B"
Commercial Driver License or the ability to obtain one within 6
months of employment, 3 ASE Certifications and 3 additional ASE
Certifications required within one year of employment.
DETENTION
OFFICER – Provides detention, intake, custodial care and
release of arrested inmates.
Must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school
diploma or GED, a U.S. citizen, have a clear criminal record,
possess a valid class “C” driver license and have an excellent
driving record.
The complete Detention Officer packet (Application,
Personal History Statement, Authorization for Release, Checklist,
copy of drivers license and proof of education) must be submitted
to the Human Resources Department in person or via mail.

LABORER
P/T (SEASONAL)
– Working 40 hours per week through the spring and summer
(approximately three months).
Completes routine light to heavy manual tasks in park
maintenance. Eighth
grade education or GED and one year experience in parks or ground
maintenance and possession of a valid Class “C” Drivers
License.
LIFEGUARD
– Must
be at least 16 years of age. Supervises pool patrons, assists with swim lessons, pool
maintenance and light janitorial work.
Class
“C” Drivers License, American
Red Cross Lifeguarding certification, or equivalent, CPR and AED
certifications.
PAVING
& DRAINAGE TECHNICIAN
– Performs heavy
manual laboring tasks in the street division.
Must have a high school diploma or GED and two years of
general laboring or equivalent operation experience.
Must be able to obtain a class “B” CDL within three
months of hire. Must
have ability to understand and follow specific oral and written
instructions. This
outdoor position requires heavy lifting.
POLICE
OFFICER
– First test May 10, 2008. Other test dates to be determined.
Must be at least 21 years of age, a citizen of the United States
and have a high school diploma or GED with 12 hours of college
credits. Must have a clear criminal history and an excellent
driving record. Must be able to obtain TCLEOSE License and
Basic Police Officer Certificate. Application packets and

SIGNAL
TECHNICIAN –
Monitors and inspects signal construction projects and field
operations of traffic signals. High school diploma and five years experience as a traffic
signal technician, possess a class “C” driver license,
International Municipal Signal Association Level Two
Traffic Signal Technician or Electrical certifications. Technician will be on 24
hour call on a rotating basis.
STREET
SUPERINTENDENT
– Plans and implements short & long term street &
drainage maintenance projects.
Associates Degree in Construction Technology, three years
experience in pavement and drainage maintenance, two years
supervisory experience, class
"C" driver license.
