Residential Incentives Programs

Are you eligible for cash back, permit rebates, complimentary City services, or gift cards for the work you’re planning to do to your home?

Take advantage of the City of Farmers Branch’s Resident Incentive Programs. All incentives will be awarded on a first-come first-served basis, are subject to fund availability, and are at the sole discretion of the City Council. All applications must be completed within 60 calendar days of the completion of the project.

Exterior Makeover Incentive Program

Level One:

  • Market value of home is less than $150,000 according to the Dallas Central Appraisal District
  • Makeover project(s) qualify with the Exterior Makeover Policy – If completing multiple projects, the projects must be completed within 60 calendar days of one another
  • Must spend between $2,000 and $9,999
  • Incentives Awarded:
    • $300 gift card from participating vendors (see Gift Card Vendor form)
    • If the applicant qualifies for an upgrade, detailed on pages seven and eight in the application, the applicant will receive an additional $100 in gift cards from participating vendors

Level Two:

  • Makeover project(s) qualify with the Exterior Makeover Policy – If completing multiple projects, the projects must be completed within 60 calendar days of one another
  • Must spend between $10,000 and $24,999
  • Incentives Awarded:
    • $400 gift card from participating vendors (see Gift Card Vendor form)
    • 50% permit fee rebate
    • If an applicant qualifies for an upgrade, detailed on pages seven and eight in the application, the applicant will receive an additional $200 in gift cards from participating vendors

  Level Three:

  • Makeover project(s) qualify with the Exterior Makeover Policy – If completing multiple projects, the projects must be completed within 60 calendar days of one another
  • Must spend between $25,000 and $49,999
  • Incentives Awarded:
    • 1% cash grant of the applicable improvement cost
    • $500 gift card from participating vendors (see Gift Card Vendor form)
    • 50% permit fee rebate
    • If you qualify for an upgrade, detailed on pages seven and eight in the application, you will receive an additional $300 in gift cards from participating vendors

In the event that the cost of an applicant’s exterior makeover exceeds $50,000, they will then qualify for the Major Remodel Incentive Program.

Major Remodel Incentive Program

Level One:

  • Major remodel project(s) qualify with the Major Remodel Policy – If completing multiple projects, the projects must be completed within 60 calendar days of one another

  • Must spend between $50,000 and $99,999

  • Incentives Awarded:

    • 2% cash grant of the total improvement cost

    • 50% permit fee rebate

  Level Two:

  • Major remodel project(s) qualify with the Major Remodel Policy – If completing multiple projects, the projects must be completed within 60 calendar days of one another

  • Must spend more than $100,000

  • Incentives Awarded:

    • 2% cash grant of the total improvement cost

    • 50% permit fee rebate

    • Complimentary City services for twelve months valued at $3,700 (applicable to homesteaded property owner only)

      • Monthly City water and sewer service (maximum annual value of $2,000)

      • WiFi service through the City’s provider (Basic Monthly plan)

      • Family fitness membership at the Farmers Branch Recreation Center

      • Consultation with the City’s horticultural staff (maximum of three 30 minute consultations)

      • Brookhaven Country Club social membership

New Home Incentive Program

  • The New Home Incentive Program applies only to a new single-family, detached home constructed on a lot that, according to the most recent abstract or platting of the property, previously had a residential structure on such platted or abstracted lot within the City of Farmers Branch

  • All tear-down and rebuilds must meet all City codes

  • The applicant must be the first owner of the home

  • Incentives Awarded:

    • 2% cash grant of the purchase amount listed on the closing statement

    • Complimentary City services for twelve months valued at $3,700 (applicable to homesteaded property owner only)

      • Monthly City water and sewer service (maximum annual value of $2,000)

      • WiFi service through the City’s provider (Basic Monthly plan)

      • Family fitness membership at the Farmers Branch Recreation Center

      • Consultation with the City’s horticultural staff (maximum of three 30 minute consultations)

10 Easy Steps to Apply for the
Residential Incentive Program

  1. List what projects you plan on completing and the total cost
  2. Determine which program you qualify for
  3. Take "before" pictures
  4. Make a copy of all estimates and/or contracts
  5. Acquire a permit from City Hall
  6. Begin and complete improvements
  7. Make a copy of all receipts and/or invoices
  8. Schedule a City Inspection
  9. Take "after" pictures
  10. Turn in application and supporting documents to Nicole Recker at City Hall
