Code Enforcement Officers get boost from wireless technology

The City’s Code Enforcement Officers now have the ability to access property information while in the field.

Using mobile Internet technology, the Code Enforcement Division of the Community Services Department has implemented a new, web-based code enforcement tracking software. This provides Code Enforcement Officers with up-to-date information on code violations as well as code enforcement history in their vehicles.

Residents can log-on to the City’s website at www.farmersbranch.info and file a code enforcement concern, which will automatically show up on the Code Enforcement Officers computer in the field. Call-in concerns will be directly input into the system, which will flag the inspector that a complaint is pending and action is necessary.  Once the officer performs the inspection, with a few mouse clicks, a notice will be generated and printed ready to mail.

The system pulls the current ownership information from the Dallas Central Appraisal District and tenant information from the City’s utility billing. The new system has been operational since the first of July and with more than 2,400 notices issued through August. For more information, call 972-247-3131.
