The
Farmers Branch Police Department is excited to announce their
participation in
a new program that allows the general public and insurers access
to purchase motor vehicle accidents via the Internet, joining the growing
list of north Texas cities that are currently utilizing this
technology.
In
an effort to provide a higher level of customer service, by
expediting the process of obtaining an accident report, the
Farmers Branch Police Department has partnered with
PoliceReports.US. This partnership will allow citizens to purchase
accident reports investigated by the Farmers Branch Police
Department, through the convenience of a user-friendly Internet
site.
Beginning
June 22, 2007, accident reports generated on or after June 1, 2007
will be available for purchase online at www.policereports.us
or the direct Farmers Branch link at http://farmersbranchtx.policereports.us/.
To search for a report, enter the report number or the date of the
accident report and the name of one of the drivers. Major credit
or debit cards are accepted.
Citizens
and insurers will still be able to obtain a copy of an accident
report by contacting the Records Division at the Farmers Branch
Police Department Monday through Friday between the hours of 8
a.m. and 5 p.m.
The online method is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week and will bypass the inconvenience of waiting in line, travel,
and time spent mailing requests. In most cases, reports can be
accessed within five days of the accident. Older accident reports
may be obtained by calling the Records Division at 972-919-9311 or
972-919-9314.
The fee for accident reports retrieved online or from the
Records Department is $6.
