Library Cards

Why get a library card?

A library card from the Farmers Branch Manske Library can provide you with a world of opportunity. Your library card will give you access to books, DVDs, magazines, eBooks, audiobooks, research databases, and more. Card-holders in good standing can borrow books and other materials at the Library, through inter-library loan, and through any of our digital libraries. Additionally, you can use your library card to access the Library's computers for up to four hours a day.

You can access our online library card application form here.

Card Types

Full Access Card- Residents of Farmers Branch, Carrollton, and Addison are eligible to obtain a full access card at the Farmers Branch Manske Library. We require that card applicants provide a photo I.D. and of proof of current address with their application. (Residents of Addison, Texas, should consult the City of Addison's Library Services webpage before applying for a card, as some restrictions do apply.) The full access card allows patrons to check out up to 50 items at a time, 10 of which can be DVDs.

There is no age limit on full access cards, meaning all children are welcome to obtain their first library card with us. A parent or legal guardian must fill out the application form and provide a photo I.D. with a current address. Please note that all children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times in the Library.

TexShare Card- Residents of other cities can obtain a library card with the Farmers Branch Manske Library through the TexShare program. The TexShare card is provided by the library in the city where you reside. TexShare cardholders must provide the TexShare card, and a photo I.D. with a current address. The TexShare card allows patrons to check out up to 5 items at a time.

Internet Guest Card- Residents of other cities who do not have a TexShare card and only wish to use the Library's computers can obtain an Internet Guest Card for $25. These cards do not allow for checking out materials at the Library or through our digital libraries.

Patrons must present a current photo I.D. and proof of current address, and accounts must be in good standing (i.e. not delinquent) before a library card of any type can be renewed.

Library Cards expire on the following schedule:

  • Farmers Branch Residents: 3 Years
  • Addison & Carrollton Residents: 1 Year
  • Internet Guest Card: 1 Year
  • TexShare Cardholders: 6 Months or 1 Year (determined by the cardholder's home library)
