Farmers Branch Historical Park

Owl Prowl


Tuesday, September 25 from 7 - 8:30 pm in the Old Church


Fee: $5 per person; Space is limited and pre-registration required.

Bring the family to the Historical Park and learn about the birds of the night. The Blackland Prairie Raptor Center will be on hand with live owls for a show and tell. The event will conclude with a prowl for owls, weather permitting.

Developing coordination and creativity through dance in an outdoor setting that encourages exploration and adventure through movement. Children should dress in flexible clothing and close-toed shoes, and are encouraged to bring a water bottle.

Haunts & Houses

Tuesday, October 23 from 3 – 5 pm, Haunts & Houses: trick or treating at the Historical Park

Come & Go

Bring your young and school-aged children to trick or treat and experience the Manske Library’s “Boo-Ville” area during this come and go event. Wear a costume and trick or treat at the log cabins, school house, caboose, Victorian cottage, and more! Characters will be on hand to distribute candy on a first-come, first-served basis, and to pose for pictures with your little ones.

Candy Making Workshop


Saturday, November 10 from 1 – 3 pm, in the Historical Dodson House


Fee: $20 per person/$35 for two; space is limited and pre-registration required. 

Instructor – Chocolatier yeli Marshall of Yelibelly Chocolates
The family friendly class begins with a demo and discussion on candy making. Guests are guided through hands on candy pulling, hard candy making, lollipops and more. Each guest leaves with a box of candy they made themselves.

The Victorian Fencing Society presents a Grand Assault of Arms 


Saturday, November 10 from 1 – 4 pm, at the Historical Park


Come & Go

A family friendly Public Exhibition of Nineteenth Century Fencing Matches, to be contested among the members of the Victorian Fencing Society with various fencing weapons to determine a champion. Visitors are invited to cheer for their champions, ask questions, and take photos of the events.
